Dementia rates on the rise worldwide

According to a survey reported today in the Scotsman, a Scottish Newspaper, rates of dementia are on the rise. A study concluded that 47% of the Scottish population knows someone with or someone who has been touched by dementia.

A report on Scotland’s Stv shows the impact of dementia on both caregivers and the patients themselves. A patient in the report feels that dementia research is where cancer research was 20 years ago. He is calling it “an absolute plague.”

An earlier report on the studies being done at the caregiver level in Europe depicts a visible effort in the UK to combat what many health experts see as a rising tide of health care difficulties.
